Why is the brain of artists distinct from the brains of ordinary people?
The brain is composed of white and gray matter
1-Gray matter
The gray matter is where the majority of nerve
cells in the brain that allows us to think and to see, hear, speak, feel and
move.
The gray matter, on the other hand, is the key
to information processing and use whether in thinking or creativity. Where
creative ideas or perceptions are carried on nerve fibers until they are often
taken out on paper.
2-White matter
White matter is made up of millions of nerve
axons used by the brain to speed up messages throughout, where the axons carry
information from and to the gray matter.
Scientists have studied the brains of artists
and found an increase in gray matter. Specifically in the areas of the brain
responsible for the coordinated movements of the fingers and areas of
recognition of visual images that formed their artistic creativity.
The study was conducted on 21 students from
the Arts Department with 23 ordinary students without any specialization in any
art, and they photographed their brains with magnetic resonance imaging.
The images
showed that the areas responsible for the movement of limbs and areas of visual
image recognition in (art students) brains more than other students.
The study
indicates that the artist's environment and nurturing play a significant role
in the development of these creative spaces, there is
an incredible flexibility of the brain. Where there is an increase in gray
brain matter in areas that focus on it such as painting, acting, singing or
musical playing.
Therefore, people who can draw well have brain
regions responsible for consistent movements of fingers and procedural memory
more sophisticated than others.
If you are an artist or have a creative
experience, you can stimulate your gray material by
1-Stimulate your brain
cells
Thinking or visualization is the best way to train your brain. For
example, if you prepare a creative work in drawing, the best thing to do is to
study the paintings of artists and painters with a talent. And try to inspire
and distinguish the elements that led to the distinction of their fame
paintings.
You can of course criticize these elements freely, you are now in the
stage of free thinking. You can then imagine the theme of your painting and
what its distinctive elements. Whether they are colors, shapes, environments,
people or otherwise, and you may need to re-study several paintings rich in
these elements, all these things stimulate your brain more.
2-You have to perform the creative skill
At this stage you have to make simple drawings of what you would like to
do in your large creative drawing. And do not be afraid to try again and again,
so your gray cells are stimulated to the maximum before your big achievement.
3-Take omega-3 acids
Take a daily dose of 600 milligrams of omega-3 fatty acids, which forms
the core lining of gray brain cells. Omega-3 acids are
involved in the synthesis of nerve cell membranes and the synthesis of nerve
connections, and this dose of omega-3 helps protect the nervous system in the
first place.
And because these fatty acids are rich in substances beneficial to brain
neurons and also useful in the process of nervous communication between cells.
So, you will see them working to increase the activity of the brain and push it
to form ideas and perceptions outside the ordinary. Omega-3 is found in fatty
fish such as salmon, tuna, sardines and fish oil.
4-Sleep well during the creativity stage
Experts recommend that you have to get a good sleep period of at least
six to eight hours a day. Which will protect the brain from any contraction of
the gray matter. And because sleeping enhances these cells that are important
for creativity and purifies them from the neurotoxins that accumulate inside
them. Sleep will help stimulate creative thinking in the next day and release a
lot of creations.
